“She’s fun! Plus she really likes me,” said Rodger.
“Just wait ‘til you find her broomstick,” said Daisy.
“Why do you really wanna date her?”
Rodger paused for a few seconds. Then he sighed. “Her BFF Cassie — she’s kinda cool,” he said. “But I think she’s occupied.”
“Occupied?!” Daisy said. “You make it sound like she’s a bathroom stall!”
“I’m glad I don’t like guys,” Daisy said.
“Daisy— ” Rodger tried to say.
“I don’t need a friend like you,” Daisy said before she walked away.
Rodger sighed. Then Ellie walked in.
“Hey!” She said. “Sorry I’m late.”
“You were only late by, like, three minutes!”
“I know,” Ellie said. “But I don’t like being late.”
“Fair,” Rodger said. “How’s Joanne?”
“Oh, same as always.”
Then there was a pause.
“Hey, aren’t you and her little sister together?”
“Jane and I are going on our first date tomorrow!!!” Rodger replied excitedly.
“Oh, okay,” Ellie said.
“Is anything wrong?” Rodger asked, nervous for his already damaged ego.
“I mean, I feel kinda bad for her... you tend to play games with your relationship status. I should know,” Ellie explained. “Every time it’s the same, just with a different girl. And it always ends the same way.”
